Why is Scorpio the Scorpion? What is the meaning of the signs?

My boyfriend and I seem to have the perfect relationship, but based on our signs, it says, we are going to be a "fling"…? What would be the reasons we didn’t work out, or had conflicts? We don’t really have issues, and if we do, we address them…?
